Articulating his concern over reports of Pakistan expanding its nuclear arsenal,Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor on Friday said that the world community should pressurize it (Pakistan) to cap its atomic weapon program. Talking to reporters at the sidelines of a defence function in New Delhi, the Army Chief said that Pakistan requires only a minimum number of warheads as deterrence and an increase over that is a matter of concern.
If the media reports are to be believed,I am told the number (of nuclear warheads with Pakistan) is increasing. So definitely, that is matter of serious concern, General Kapoor said.
While the Army Chief expressed confidence that India is prepared for any eventuality,he said that the world community should put the kind of pressure that is required for Pakistan to cut down its nuclear weapons program.
