Two days after Army killed three infiltrators on the Line of Control in North Kashmir ’s Tanghdar sector, Army is again engaged in another operation against the infiltrators in the Keran sector.

Sources said the troops of Army’s Raj Rifles this morning intercepted a militant group on the Line of Control soon after the militants sneaked into the Valley. Two infiltrators are believed to be killed in the encounter that is still going progress. “The operation is going on the Line of Control in Keran sector,” Army spokesman, Lt Col J S Brar said. He, however, did not confirm any militant killings.

Sources, however said the Army has intercepted a big militant group comprising four to six militants on the LoC. The group had been encircled by army patrols and all the routes leading towards the LoC have been sealed to prevent escape of infiltrators towards the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

This is the second infiltration attempt of militants that has been foiled by the Army on the Line of Control in Kupwara sector in past three days. On Monday, soldiers of the Army’s 12 Bihar regiment had spotted a group of infiltrators crossing the Line of Control (LoC) into Tangdhar. The militants were intercepted near Eagle Post in Karnah sector and after a long encounter three militants were killed.

Army has launched a massive combing operation in the forests of Tanghdar to hunt the militants who might have escaped. Due to the strict vigil and heavy army deployment on the LoC in Tanghdar sector, militants now are trying to sneak into the Valley through rugged terrain and in the past Army had foiled many militant attempts to sneak into the Valley through Eagle post that falls in the Shamsbari Range .
