The Corps of Signals of the Indian Army celebrated its 102nd Raising Day on Friday. Signal units in the Command marked the occasion with JCOs and their families while serving and retired Signal officers of the station organised a function at Rajendra Sinhji Institute (RSI) in the city. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Lt Gen Ashok Singh was also present on the occasion.
A press release issued by Press Information Bureau, MoD said, "Since its inception on February 15, 1911, Signals have gone through evolution in communication technology. Today, the Corps is well poised to exploit the state-of-the-art modern communication techniques for meeting the requirements of the Indian Army in the 21st Century."
"The Corps shoulder the onerous responsibility of providing the Indian Army with peace time static communications as well as combat communications during operations. In order to meet the communication challenges of the modern army, the Corps has established a nation-wide army owned network to provide reliable and responsive real time communication, true to their motto of "Teevra Chaukas". The aim and objective of the Corps of Signals is to make the Indian Army a Network Centric Force in times to come," added the release.
