The Delhi government has opposed certain provisions of the draft National Food Security Bill,saying the proposed universalisation of food grain entitlements to majority of population would be very “difficult to implement”.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has opposed certain provisions of the draft National Food Security Bill,saying the proposed universalisation of food grain entitlements to majority of population would be very “difficult to implement”. In a letter to Union Food Minister K V Thomas,the Delhi government has said corruption was rampant in the current public distribution system (PDS),and unless structural changes are made,the desired results would be very hard to achieve.

Two-fold hike in salaries of Delhi MLAs,ministers

NEW DELHI: Delhi MLAs and ministers will get nearly double the amount of their existing salary from this month. The government has notified the amendment bill passed in the assembly in September. An MLA,who currently gets nearly Rs 42,000 per month,including all incentives,will get nearly Rs 82,000 while the monthly emolument of a minister will go up to Rs 1 lakh from the current Rs 55,000 a month.

‘No change in nursery admission guidelines’

NEW DELHI: With just a month left for nursery admissions,Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely on Monday indicated there will be almost no change in guidelines for enrollment issued last year. “The guidelines will almost remain same as last year,” Lovely said. He said the guidelines are likely to be issued next month and the admission process will start in January.
