From film screenings to dance workshops, the art scene in the city is abuzz with many unique events
Films
* Open Space, in collaboration with Mumbai-based Shamiana Film Club is playing host to a monthly screening of short films from India and across the world on today, between 6 and 8 pm.
* Shamiana, the short film club, is organising a screening of films from across the world today at High Spirits, Koregaon Park, 8.45 pm onwards. Films which will be screened on the occasion include The Homemaker by Archana Iyer.
Theatre
* Arpana presents Sex, Morality and Censorship, a play directed by Sunil Shanbag and developed by Shanta Gokhale and Irawati Karnik at the Bal Gandharva Rangmandir on Nov 6, 9 pm onwards. The play explores one of the most controversial issues of our time – morality and censorship – and flashes back to the early ‘70s, when Vijay Tendulkar’s classic, Sakharam Binder, set off a storm of controversy on the theatre scene.
Exhibition
* Malaka Spice, Koregaon Park is playing host to an exhibition of paintings by Vinay Sane titled Musical Seismographs from Nov 1 to 15. A self-taught artist, Sane is an electrical engineer by profession and his paintings are vibrations felt by the heart and soul.
* Malaya Exhibits presents Wall Art on Silk at Atelier, Baner Road on October 31 and November 1, from 10 am to 8pm. The silk art will be showcased on scarves, sarees, stoles and cushions here.
