Art panel yet to clear Games Village flat

It may be sometime before those who have bought flats at the Commonwealth Games Village can move in as the Delhi Urban Art Commission has not yet given completion certificates to the flats.

It may be sometime before those who have bought flats at the Commonwealth Games Village can move in as the Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC) has not yet given completion certificates to the flats.

“We have told the project proponents (DDA and Emaar-MGF) that the Games Village housing complex should not be occupied without prior approval by the Commission,” DUAC Chairperson K T Ravindran said. He said as per norms the proposal for approval has to be received from the local body —DDA — after which a no objection certificate (NoC) will be issued. “The NoC will depend on the compliance with the guidelines issued to them while approving the building plan of the project,” he added.

The DUAC members had recently visited the site and expressed satisfaction that the temporary constructions in the Village were being demolished as directed. The members also noted that accommodation of the Village has been utilised for the Games but the completion certificate has not been given by the Commission so far.

Situated besides the Akshardham temple, the Village has 34 towers with 1,168 flats — two, three, four, and five- bedroom-hall-kitchen types.
