  • Since October 15, the Shukla family residing at 352/3, New Labour Colony, Babupurva, has lost its peace, courtesy Shiv Kant Tripathi. In his FIR against Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, his wife Pankaja and film star Amitabh Bachchan, Tripathi gave 352/3, New Labour Colony, as his residential address. Since then, mediapersons and the policemen have been regularly visiting the house, making enquiries about Tripathi.

For the past 18 years, Shiv Kumar Shukla, along with his wife Mithlesh and daughters Kirti and Preeti, has been staying in the house. He says he does not know Tripathi, nor does he have anything to do with the case he has lodged with the police.

“Policemen often come and ask us to show the ration card, voter ID cards of the family and other documents. They ask us about our relations with Tripathi. This has been going on since October 15,” said Mithlesh.

A police team is posted outside the house to keep a watch on the visitors. Mediapersons drop in to make enquiries; so do curious neighbours, she said. A harassed Shukla says if it goes on like this, they will have to leave the place and go elsewhere. In particular, he is angry over the “rude and humiliating behaviour” of the policemen.

“We are from Kamalpur area of Jhinjhak in Kanpur Dehat district, and I have no relative by the name of S K Tripathi. We do not know Tripathi. Therefore, the question of him residing in our house does not arise,” said Shukla, who works at shop in Jareeb Chowki area.

    ... contd.
