Motorcycle-borne assailants struck again in West Delhi and robbed a foodgrain merchant of Rs 11.5 lakh in broad daylight on a busy road. Sanjiv Gupta,the 42-year-old trader,was taking the usual route from his home in Pitampura to a factory in the Lawrence Road Industrial Area in his Santro. As he turned towards Britannia Chowk in Keshav Puram area,four men on two motorcycles forcibly blocked his way forcing Gupta to stop. One of the assailants broke the glass window on his left side. According to Gupta,in full public view,three of the assailants brandished pistols and asked him to part with his bag containing Rs 11.5 lakh. This is the second major robbery in Keshav Puram area in less than a week,after a gang of eight robbed two bank employees of Rs 9.57 lakh on Monday. The Crime Branch had arrested seven people in connection with the case,but the rising cases of robbery in broad daylight have left residents and commuters in the area scared. Gupta told Newsline he has around eight employees working for him in the supply and collection of foodgrains. Police suspect the hand of one of them in the attack.
