Independent MLA Jiten Gogoi,who has been granted bail in connection with an assault case,was arrested again in another case at Assam’s Golaghat district.
The Bokakhat MLA was nabbed after the Golaghat civil court had issued a warrant directing his arrest on the charge of contempt of court as he failed to appear before it in connection with the assault of a local Congress leader,Akash
Phukan. The court had issued several summons to Gogoi in connection with this case.
Gogoi,a former ULFA militant,was earlier arrested on May 16 in a case of illegal trespass and assault of forest officials in Kaziranga National Park. He was booked under various Section of Arms Act and Wildlife (Protection) Act.
The Gauhati High Court had yesterday granted bail to Gogoi on a condition that he would not leave his home in Golaghat district without prior permission of the chief judicial magistrate.
