Assembly polls: Akhilesh on the hunt for candidates

The Samajwadi Party’s state president Akhilesh Yadav has begun the exercise for selecting candidates for the by-polls to the 13 Assembly seats in the state.

The Samajwadi Party’s state president Akhilesh Yadav has begun the exercise for selecting candidates for the by-polls to the 13 Assembly seats in the state.

It is Akhilesh’s first assignment as the president of the state unit.

The Kannauj MP met the aspirants for three seats — Mughalsarai (Chandauli),Issauli (Sultanpur) and Jhansi. Accompanied by his uncle and leader of Opposition in the Assembly Shiv Pal Yadav,he met the leaders and discussed the political situation in their constituencies. Sources said Akhilesh has done his ground work and analysed the booth-wise results of the constituencies before collecting views of the district-level leaders.

During his interaction with the aspirants,Akhilesh focused on the booth-wise polls results in the recent LS polls,besides the Assembly results of the 2007.

“I have just collected their opinions. There are several aspirants for the tickets,” he said.

In 2007 Assembly elections,the SP had won six of the 13 seats going for polls this year.
