It’s incredible how every time he dabbles in an adventure sport,it translates to a record. In 2008,N K Mahajan, then 88,became the oldest parasailor from India. Interestingly, the record, that got him an entry in the Limca Book of Records for the third time, bettered his own records set in 2003 and 2007.

And now,Mahajan is set for another endeavour: He plans to cross a valley that is 500 ft deep and 150 ft long. He will attempt the feat on Sunday at the valley near Lonavala, which is situated between Duke’s Nose,a well-known tourist spot.

For Mahajan,it’s not just about setting a record and updating it. “I want to inspire the young generation, who shy away from physical activities, especially adventure sports,” says Mahajan, who feels parents should encourage their children to take up sports such as football, volleyball and basketball.

He does not suffer from any of the ailments associated with old-age,such as blood pressure or diabetes.
