There was trepidation, relief and a quiet celebration at Satyam Computer Services Limited today as the Satyam Board announced that IT services provider Tech Mahindra is its new owner. Thousands of employees who were closely following the bidding process heaved a sigh of relief when they heard that Tech Mahindra had acquired 31 per cent stake in Satyam. “It is known for its good work ethics and transparency. They have an excellent HR policy too; what more can we ask for?’’ said Pavan Reddy, a team lead at Satyam.
Many Satyam employees started calling up friends or acquaintances associated with Tech Mahindra, especially those working with its BPO to find out more about the company and its policies.
“We thought it would be L&T although Mahindra was being talked about. I think all Satyam employees are in safe hands now. Work and deliveries are going on at a tremendous pace so if there is no interference or major policy changes, we are going to come out of this mess new and shining,’’ Bindu, an engineer with Satyam since 2002, gushes.
“It definitely calls for a celebration..let us see what is happening at the canteens,'” said Arun Uday.
There was trepidation among freshers who joined Satyam as recently as a year ago. As soon as Satyam employees received an official email today afternoon, many of them trawled the internet for more information on Tech Mahindra.
“They were curious to know if Tech Mahindra had been firing people recently due to the recession, especially people with one or two years experience,’’ Suman Shetty, an engineer said.
