Over 100 patients and their relatives staged a demonstration outside SSKM Hospital on Tuesday protesting poor quality of food supplied to them.
"Only vegetables are being provided to the patients. But according to rules hospital should provide fish, meat and eggs too in a week. Why will our patients debarred from their rights? We will continue our agitation if the hospital authorities fail to address the issue," said a relative of a patient taking part in the protest.
For that past three months, patients allege that they are not getting adequate meal. Even complaints have been levelled against the hospital for providing stale food to the patient.
Sources within the hospital said that some patients were agitated after they were provided some half boiled vegetables during the lunch. It has been learnt that a private vendor, which supplies food to the hospital, is not being paid regularly by the hospital authorities.
Tamal Ghosh, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said they are looking into the patients' complaints.
Teachers demand correction in CAS
KOLKATA: Teachers of all seven universities of the state staged a demonstration at Jadavpur University on Tuesday saying that the Career Adavancement Scheme introduced by the state government doesn't provide uniform hike in the salaries of college and university teachers. HRD ministry issued the order in June 2010, while the West Bengal government implemented it in November, 2012. "There was a gap of 28 months and as a result promotion of many teachers have been due," they said.
