  • Five video clips of the Ahmedabad blasts, one clip of terrorists planting a bomb in Delhi, four photographs of the Delhi blast sites, one clip of the Jaipur blast, photographs of two cars stolen from Mumbai and used in the Ahmedabad blasts have been recovered by the Delhi Police from the mobile phone and laptop of Atif Amin, the Indian Mujahideen leader who was later killed in the September 19 shooting at Batla House in Jamia Nagar.

There is also CCTV footage from the Metro stations at Central Park and Greater Kailash-I market which show the IM operatives leaving the area after planting the bombs. Timings on the CCTV match with the explosion timing.

These are part of the evidence in the draft chargesheet readied by the Delhi Police for the September 13 Delhi serial blasts case in which 26 people died and over 100 were injured. The chargesheet is expected to be filed in a Delhi court on or before December 17 when the 90-day remand period for the five IM operatives, arrested from Batla House, gets over.

Atif was said to have videographed all the locations himself before planting the bombs there. The Chandigarh-based Forensic Science Laboratory has confirmed that these video clips were taken from the recovered mobile phone.

The Delhi Police, in its chargesheet, will be linking the network of the five IM operatives to the blasts in Jaipur and Ahmedabad as well. The cellphone IDs of terrorists in Gujarat and Delhi have matched and call detail records show calls being exchanged between IM operatives located in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi before and after the blasts.

The police have also got hold of fake identity cards used by the terrorists, bank account details, and photographs of all IM members saved by Atif in his laptop, the logo of the Indian Mujahideen, emails, inflammatory literature and CDs shown as part of indoctrination.

The Delhi Police, which registered five FIRs in the serial blasts case, arrested five IM members — Mohammad Saif, Zeeshan Ahmad, Zia-ur-Rehman, Saqib Nisar and Shakil — after the shooting incident at L-18, Batla House on September 19, in which Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma of the Special Cell was killed.

Of the five FIRs, four are expected to be clubbed in a collective chargesheet. These are the blasts in Karol Bagh, Connaught Place and Greater Kailash. The incident being left out of this chargesheet is the India Gate/ Tilak Marg incident since it is apparently not linked to these accused.

The Delhi Police claim that in Karol Bagh, Shakil planted a bomb in a three-wheeler; Zeeshan along with Sajid (he was killed in Batla House) planted a bomb in a dustbin on Barakhamba Road; Khalid (absconding) and Saif planted bombs in garbage bins outside Regal Cinema; Junaid (also absconding) and Atif planted bombs in the Greater Kailash-I market. Zia and Saqib Nisar are also likely to be named in the chargesheet as co-conspirators since they assisted in planting the explosives.

All the accused are to be charged under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 121 (waging or attempting to wage war against the Government of India), 121 A (conspiracy to commit offences under Sections 121), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 427 (mischief causing damage), Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Explosives Substance Act and Sections 10, 12 and 13 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Other than these five, the Special Cell has also arrested Mohammad Sadiq and Qayamuddin Kapadia (whose custody was taken from Mumbai Police last month) and a supplementary chargesheet is likely to be filed against them.

Details of the draft chargesheet, accessed by The Indian Express, reveal that the Delhi Police have a lengthy list of 250 witnesses in the case. The witnesses include owners of damaged vehicles, rag pickers who saw the accused planting bombs, victims, forensic experts and police officials.

A key police witness is Moolchand, the three-wheeler driver whose vehicle was hired by Shakil, after which the bomb exploded in Gaffar Market.

Officials said that all the statements of witnesses, circumstances and evidence collected by them have corroborated with the Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Jaipur police investigations.

But officials said they have not yet decided on invoking MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) against these arrested IM operatives.

The IM module of 14 members, police said, was based at Batla House for about six weeks before the September 13 blasts, when they split in groups to plant nine bombs at various locations in the Capital.

The chargesheet will also mention travel details of the IM members. The police have traced most travel documents booked in the name of accused Atif and Saif (they travelled in the name of Rahul Sharma and Pankaj Kumar) to Jaipur, Ahmedabad (before the blasts there) and Udupi (Karnataka) to carry explosives from one Shahrukh there. There is also a record of Saif’s stay in Hotel Broadway in Udupi.

The police have also found a black bag and a bucket in which explosives were kept. Defused bombs and forensic reports also form part of the evidence. The police have also got an AK-47 and two pistols recovered from Batla House.

Blasts and Video clipsBy: Varinder | 10-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Despite Blasts photos in the mobile of Terrorsit Atif of Batla House encounter, still Amar Singh and Co. may want an enquiry and demean the martyrdom of Inspector M.C.Sharma?Is politics of Vote Bank everything for Politicians?
Delhi, Ahmedbad, Jaipur blastsBy: Aravind | 10-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Immediately hang all the politicians who had spoken for these goons. Our police and military are the only reliable institutions. We should reduce the security cover to the politicians and use these resources for over all security enhancement. Each and every Politician should bear the responsibility for the social make up and criminal free records of his/her supporters. Since the politicians are paid handsomely, they should also take the responsibiilty. Even though not related, each political paprty should be made accountable for damages caused by its negligence (during any strikes etc.)
Convict the Politicians Shielding HimBy: A Gokak | 10-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Hang the politicians who are currently engaged in disinformation over the Batla House encounter! Hang Afzal Guru, and in future, shoot the convicts in custody instead of waiting for the seditious politicians or the corrupt judiciary. Ensure maximum security for the citizen, and not on convicts' human rights! Our only hope lies with the Police and the Military to protect and defend the peace of India and Indians!
good work by the cops, shame on our politiciansBy: vijay | 10-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward hope all this is going to be accepted by the courts
