Other than these five, the Special Cell has also arrested Mohammad Sadiq and Qayamuddin Kapadia (whose custody was taken from Mumbai Police last month) and a supplementary chargesheet is likely to be filed against them.
Details of the draft chargesheet, accessed by The Indian Express, reveal that the Delhi Police have a lengthy list of 250 witnesses in the case. The witnesses include owners of damaged vehicles, rag pickers who saw the accused planting bombs, victims, forensic experts and police officials.
A key police witness is Moolchand, the three-wheeler driver whose vehicle was hired by Shakil, after which the bomb exploded in Gaffar Market.
Officials said that all the statements of witnesses, circumstances and evidence collected by them have corroborated with the Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Jaipur police investigations.
But officials said they have not yet decided on invoking MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) against these arrested IM operatives.
The IM module of 14 members, police said, was based at Batla House for about six weeks before the September 13 blasts, when they split in groups to plant nine bombs at various locations in the Capital.
The chargesheet will also mention travel details of the IM members. The police have traced most travel documents booked in the name of accused Atif and Saif (they travelled in the name of Rahul Sharma and Pankaj Kumar) to Jaipur, Ahmedabad (before the blasts there) and Udupi (Karnataka) to carry explosives from one Shahrukh there. There is also a record of Saif’s stay in Hotel Broadway in Udupi.
