Attack on some north Indians in Mumbai by activists of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Shiv Sena and 'new revelations' about the Batla House encounter in Delhi led to uproarious scenes in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

The House was adjourned for an hour soon after it assembled for the day as BSP members Akbar Ahmad Dumpy and Iliyas Azmi rushed to the well of the House flashing copies of a newspaper carrying reports on a "new version" on the encounter.

The BSP members were demanding a judicial inquiry into the Batla House encounter.

Members of the Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal were also up on their feet demanding action against activists of the Shiv Sena and Raj Thackeray-led MNS, who allegedly beat up some north Indians appearing for a Railway Recruitment

Board examination in Mumbai.

Amid unruly scenes, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the proceedings till 12:00 noon.

Before the House assembled, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and Congress President Sonia Gandhi were seen in animated discussion with NCP supremo Sharad Pawar whose party is a major partner in the Congress-led coalition government in Maharashtra.

RAJYA SABHA ADJOURNED FOR THE DAY

Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Monday for the day as a mark of respect to Laxminarayan Sharma, a sitting member of the House who died last week.

When the House met for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned the passing away of Sharma on October 17 at the age of 75.

Born in September 1933 at Karondia village in Bhopal district in Madhya Pradesh, Sharma had his education from Vikram University, Ujjain and was an agriculturalist by vocation. He began his legislative career in 1967 and was a member of Madhya Pradesh Assembly for 35 years.

Batla encounterBy: pardeep | 20-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward before launching any encounter anywhere, the police should first take a certificate from all Khans, Mohds, Nawazs, Ansaris etc. If they certify that that alleged persons are true students, without any fake degrees, attending classes 100%, look handsome, no action should be taken.

There were so many 'encounters' before, but never the muslim community and the media were so vocal about them. The BJP wants the encounter to be the election issue, so they don't want inquiry into it fearing the outcome and the BSP and SP also want the encounter to be an election issue, and hence, they want the inquiry to take place before the elections hoping to draw something from the report if the encounter is really fake. Why not Amrar Sing persoanly goes and have fight with terorist. Then he and his boss will able to know how dificult it is.This is simple nonsence.
