Auto strike: PMPML rakes in Rs 1.17 cr in a day

While the autorickshaw drivers in the city lost their income during the recent three-day strike,the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) made the most of the situation and earned Rs 1.17 crore in a single day on Monday.

While the autorickshaw drivers in the city lost their income during the recent three-day strike,the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) made the most of the situation and earned Rs 1.17 crore in a single day on Monday.

According to PMPML officials,this has been a record earning of the PMPML in a single day. The public transport body also earns a good income on some public holidays such as Republic Day,Independence Day and during the Diwali celebrations.

The PMPML plied 1,460 buses on Monday and made 22,000 trips in all. On Sunday alone,the PMPML’s earnings touched Rs 93 lakh,which is just around Rs 80 lakh usually. It had cancelled the off-days of many drivers to avoid inconvenience to citizens,said a press note.
