Avant Garde at SIFT

  • The third youth festival of the Sportking Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT)-Avant Garde-began at Guru Nanak Bhawan today. The two-day long, inter-college festival, which will see participation from local colleges and institutes, was inaugurated by Vijay Rai Dhanda, an educationist and social worker of the region.

    Speaking on the occasion, Dhanda said that extra-curricular activities in educational institutes play a significant role in the overall development of the youth, upon whose shoulders, the future of the country lies.

    Anjali Avasthi, SIFT president, appreciated the performance of all the contestants. 

    The participants took part in various competitions like debate, rangoli, t-shirt painting, group songs, classical, music.

    In the debate, the students were successful in arousing public interest on the topic ‘Should the media be restricted from reporting certain bare facts just to increase their TRPs?’

    Sunil Puri, SIFT executive director, said more such festivals, involving students from across the region, should be held for proving them a wider social and cultural exposure.
