Avoid unnecessary procedural bottlenecks in Administration, Rodrigues tells UT officials

Chandigarh: UT Administrator General S F Rodrigues (Retd) on Tuesday asked the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) to collaborate in all the ongoing projects in the city, to facilitate their expedition.

Representatives of DIMTS, headed by Chief Secretary, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, Rakesh Mehta, were in Chandigarh to give a presentation on ‘Providing services in urban transport and infrastructure development’.

After the presentation concluded, General Rodrigues constituted a core group of senior officers including the Home Secretary, Finance Secretary, Chairman Chandigarh Housing Board, Municipal Corporation Commissioner and UT Chief Engineer, to chalk out the strategies with DIMTS.

He directed the officers to avoid unnecessary procedural bottlenecks, which cause inconvenience to the common man.

Rodrigues added that the bureaucracy must not obstruct the process of development but act as a facilitator by following all rules and procedures.

He added that the administration is taking special steps for improving traffic management in the city by initiating plans for a Mass Rapid Transport System and construction of underway bridges, multi-level parkings and flyovers.
