With the idea to popularise and raise awareness about ancient Ayurveda, the Puja committee of Hatibagan Nabin Palli has taken pages out of the Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas.
“Ayurvedic knowledge was handed down orally through generations and then written down in the Vedas. Today, this form of medicine is being used even in the Western world,” said Kamaldip Dhar, a professor at Visva-Bharati, the artist who conceptualised the theme. “People have forgotten the rich history behind its evolution. In the name of Ayurveda, these days adulterated medicine is found in the markets. We want to raise awareness about it,” said Dhar.

The element of wood is reflected in the second phase of the pandal where idols of Lord Jagannath, Krishna, along with brother Balabhadra and sister Suvadra will be showcased. Along with the idols, different species of medicinal plants, herbs and trees adorn this part of the pandal.
