Union Minister Gulam Nabi Azad has ordered the removal of a top AIIMS official following repeated complaints received from its faculty members.
Deputy Director (Administration) and Chief Vigilance Officer Shailesh Yadav was issued the order by the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister on Wednesday, official sources said on Thursday.
“The communication will take some time to reach the AIIMS official since Yadav was on deputation. However, the decision may need clearance from the Department of Personnel and Training,” officials in the ministry said.
Yadav,a 1994-batch IPS officer from Tamil Nadu, was selected for the post on a four-year deputation by former Health minister Anbumani Ramadoss in August 2007.
Citing reasons for the action against Yadav, sources said,AIIMS faculty members had complained to Azad about his alleged irregularities committed when the minister visited the premier medical institution recently.
The ministry sources said Yadav’s replacement was not yet decided.
The AIIMS official created a controversy last year when he attempted to pursue a PhD in forensic sciences in spite of not being a science graduate.
