Mumbai university; Students seek help from Governor

Alleging errors in their marksheets,Bachelor of Science final year students in Mumbai University have written to the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the university, seeking his help. After B.Sc exam results were declared on June 24,colleges had displayed the mark lists on June 25.

A student from KC College said,“In our paper II of life science,we suspect that the marks of section I were not added to the grand total which is why most of us have either failed or have scored very low marks. Also,we have noticed that many students who have scored 20 out of 100 marks in the bio-chemistry paper have been declared passed even though the passing score is 35.”

Affected students from various colleges have been coming together to sign a petition on social networking sites, which would be sent to the Governor. Some of the students from Jai Hind College at Churchgate have been marked absent for one or two exams. A student from Jai Hind College said,“This matter requires urgent attention. We require our marksheets to apply for further studies and also for employment purposes. Mumbai University may overlook these discrepancies in our marksheets, but other universities will not.”

“I have received some complaints from our life science department and students have written to the university about it. However,it would be very difficult to say anything right now. But it is a serious matter as the pass percentage recorded this year is very low. Mumbai University has recorded the pass percentage of mere 56 per cent in BSc,” said Manju Nichani, principal of K C College,Churchgate.
