In a twist to the cheating case against Baba Pritpal Singh,an 80-year-old man has claimed to be the original owner of the land Baba fraudulently sold to a private company.
On Monday,Harbans Singh, father of a sitting District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) of Mansa, approached the High Court, claiming that the land belonged to him.
In the petition filed by Harbans, several new names, including that of a retired Colonel, have surfaced. Also, the petition claims that a local Tehsildar had visited Babas residence to prepare power of attorneys which were later forged.
Harbans has been reportedly running from pillar to post to lodge a case, but the police allegedly paid no heed.
Taking strong note of his accusations,Justice Sham Sunder on Monday directed the Director General of Police (DGP),Punjab, and the Inspector General (IG) of Chandigarh to get a probe conducted into the matter.
Harbans said he was not even aware of the fraud until September 2009,when a Punjab Police official informed him.
On enquiry,he learnt that several documents have been executed in relation to his land in Dera Bassi, which is lying vacant. Later,he came to know that the land being discussed in relation to Baba Pritpal Singh was his land.
Baba had fraudulently sold the land to ATS Infrastructure Private Limited.
In the High Court,Harbans counsel has submitted that the first power of attorney in relation to the land was registered on May 28,1992 without Harbans knowledge. The power of attorney was registered in name of one Hargej Kaur.
On March 3,2000,Hargej executed sub power of attorney in favour of one Colonel (Retd) Inderjit Singh, who then executed nine sale deeds.
One such sale deed was in favour of Kamaljit Kaur, who has lodged an FIR against Baba Pritpal Singh.
Subsequently,on July 22,2005,Baba got power of attorneys executed and sold the land to the private company.
The power of attorneys were registered in UT despite the land being in Punjab. The perusal of the power of attorney shows that the Teshildar went to the Gurudwara for registration of these sale deeds.
