Love Ablish still can’t explain why he decided to join the Indian Cricket League (ICL) ranks two years back, even though he’d established himself in the Punjab Ranji team. However, now that he has retruend to domestic cricket following the BCCI’s decision to allow the ICL players back in its fold, Ablish isn’t complaining about his time away.
The 27-year-old pacer conjured up a fairy tale comeback to the mainstream of domestic cricket with a superb five-for in the domestic T20 tournament here on Tuesday, which went a long way in Punjab’s opening win over Haryana. “Bahut acccha lag raha hai (I am thrilled),” he said after his match-haul of 5 for 20 in his quota of overs.
“I know that performing at this level feels different. People definitely take notice of good performances here,” Ablish added.
Another thing the Ludhiana pacer can feel satisfied by is the fact that his records will be recognised from now on, which wasn’t the case during his Chandigarh Lions and ICL days.
“We are playing under the Board and so all our records are kept intact. Your records will be there for everybody to see. Is baat se bahut tassalli milti hai (I am satisfied for the fact that my records are being recognised).”
Between discussing all the thrills of his individual performance, he doesn’t forget the confidence shown in him by the Punjab Cricket Association, who picked him in the side.
“They showed confidence in my abilities, and my performance in this match is simply a justification of that thought,” he added. “But it’s not about me right now. As of this moment I will do all I can help this team to qualify for the T20 knockouts.”
