“It’s a beautiful story that Sunil came up with and we spent a few months acquiring the rights of the Belgian film to officially remake it,” says Mehra. The 17-year-old daughter’s character will be played by a newcomer, who is yet to be finalised.

However, this will be Mehra’s third production with Bachchan, who he says is his favourite star. “I first worked with Mr Bachchan on a commercial — it was his first ad shoot. We have since worked together on numerous ads and two films, and developed a relationship,” he says.
