Badal inaugurates Max Super Specialty Hospital

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday inaugurated Max Super Specialty Hospital in Bathinda.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday inaugurated Max Super Specialty Hospital in Bathinda. Under a PPP arrangement with Punjab government,the 200-bed hospital has come up with an investment of over Rs 100 crore.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the hospital,CM announced to create a dedicated fund for the treatment of the poor patients afflicted with cancer in the newly setup hospital. He added that the specific fund would comprise Rs 3 crore as upfront consideration already paid by the Max Health Care in addition to five per cent of gross revenue annually.

Badal said that another ultra modern cancer hospital would be soon established at Bathinda under the supervision and control of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. He said a sum of Rs 60 crore has already been released by the state government for the project.

He said the state has spent Rs 340 crore for setting up a network of district hospitals,community and primary health centres equipped with the best medical infrastructure. A corpus fund Rs 20 crore has been established during the current financial year to provide free treatment to the poor cancer patients.

Earlier,CM also laid the foundation stone of the Punjab Institute of Technology (PIT),a constituent college of Punjab Technical University (PTU) at Nandgarh village in Bathinda. He also announced that the Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology has been upgraded as Advanced Centre for Research and Technology cum constituent college of Punjab Technical University.
