Badal needs to have patience, says Tewari

Union minister Manish Tewari on Saturday said Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal should have patience and show sensitivity on certain issues. Referring to the chief minister's statements about the Delhi government's interference in the bloody clashes at the Rakabganj Gurdwara, the Ludhiana MP added: "One should not give a political colour even to religious matters, the chief minister as per his stature needs to act in a mature manner."

Tewari was attending a function organised by district taxation bar association (sales tax) on Saturday. Reacting to Badal's statement on the security of the country and the UPA Government's performance, he said: "PM Manmohan Singh has his team of ministers will take care of all these issues, the Punjab chief minister should focus more on the issues pertaining to his own state rather than bothering too much about the central government."

Tewari also claimed that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be shown the door this time and added that that cracks in Modi's development claims will be out soon. The Ludhiana MP was honoured by the sales tax bar association for being elevated to the central cabinet. Varinder Sharma, president of the association and other members also discussed problems related to the tax bar body.

'Affordable healthcare UPA priority'

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari has said that the affordable healthcare across the country was among the top most priorities of the UPA government. Inaugurating the Paediatric Haematology Oncology Conference 2012, being organised jointly by the Department of Paediatrics, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, and the Indian Academy of Paediatrics in association with the Arpita Cancer Society, here on Friday evening, Tewari said that another healthcare scheme, on the lines of the National Rural Health Mission, was being envisaged for the country's urban areas.
