The portrayal of a blind goddess of justice does not mean injustice, especially when its knights are as courageous as inspector Ram Jadhav, one of the most ‘daring’ police inspectors of the Anti Dacoity Cell of Pune Police Crime Branch. And like the goddess, who ironically has the sight to see- right and wrong, Jadhav’s silence in boasting about his achievements does not sideline the fact that he is a master of the language criminals understand.
Having eliminated 10 dreaded criminals and solved several difficult cases, Jadhav has received 340 rewards in his 22 years of service, which includes the prestigious President’s Gallantry Award, Director General of Police’s Insignia award and the President award for meritorious service.
Jadhav has grabbed the limelight now with the encounter of dreaded criminal Rahul Kandhare on August 25. Kandhare, an accused in 24 crimes like murder, kidnapping, dacoities, was wanted by the Pune police for a long time. Jadhav got a tip-off from his trusted sources that Kandhare would be coming on NDA Road. Police team comprising Jadhav and inspectors Kishor Jadhav, Ram Pathare laid a trap and gunned down Kandhare, as he opened fire on the police team, injuring police naik Sunil Pawar.
Having joined the anti dacoity cell of Pune police in 2007, Jadhav’s portfolio boasts of bringing to justice, some of the most dreaded criminals. Be it the gunning down of as many contract killer Mobin sheikh, or the arrest of Vinayak Bhalerao and Hemant Gandhi, who brutally murdered 22-year-old Priti Pawar of Ganj Peth in Pune following a love affair in May 2009.
