Former champions Mohun Bagan crashed out of the Federation Cup on Monday after a 1-3 loss to Shillong Lajong FC in a Group A match. Bagan had lost their first match 1-2 to Royal Wahingdoh on Saturday. Lajong surged into lead in the 45th minute through Lalhimthara,only for Odafa Okolie to restore parity in the 58th minute. Johnny Meyongar put Lajong 2-1 ahead in the 74th minute before James Gbilee completed the rout in the 81st minute. With this win,Lajong remain on three points from two matches while Bagan have none. In another match here,Wahingdoh shocked Churchill brothers 2-1 to brighten their chances of a semifinal berth. Unbeaten Wahingdoh are now on top of the table in the group,with six points from two matches,while Churchill stay on three. Captain Seityasen Singh and Jackichand Singh scored for Wahingdoh while Henry Arnaud converted from the spot for Churchill. Dempo stay in semis race Kolkata: Former champions Dempo kept their semifinal hopes alive after outplaying Mohammedan Sporting 3-1 in their Group C fixture. After a 1-2 defeat to Pune FC in their tournament opener,Dempo returned to winning ways with first-half goals from Ranti Martins,Clifford Miranda and Koko Sakibo. Mohammedan Sporting,who drew against defending champions East Bengal in their first match,pulled one back through Stanley Okoroigwe in the second half. Gow helps East Bengal win Meanwhile,East Bengals new recruit Alan Gow scored a goal and set up another to help the seven time champions win 2-1 win against Pune FC. The Scot gave East Bengal lead in the 42nd minute,his first goal for the side. Pune FC hit back with Jeje Lalpekhlua heading home the equaliser in the 55th minute before Gows clinical cross gifted Robin Singh an easy winner eight minutes from time. Dempo (three points) climbed up to second spot behind leaders East Bengal (four),while Pune FC (three) dropped to third place on goal difference in a three-way race for the semifinalists from group C.
