Earlier, the two girls, who were present at Hotel North Park at the time of the incident, had claimed that it was after Bedi used objectionable language against them, that Bajaj intervened.

“During his remand period,Bajaj confessed that the scuffle between him and Bedi was not due to any offensive language used by Bedi. The scuffle started began after Bajaj’s car was about to run over Bedi’s feet. Also during investigation,he has confessed that he took the pistol from his private gunman,Malkhan Singh, and not only pointed towards Bedi, but also pressed the trigger but it misfired,” said investigation officer (IO) Inspector Om Prakash (Detective staff).

He added that the police department filed its reply in court on the basis of Bajaj’s confession during the hearing of his bail application, the next hearing of which is on Saturday.

While the Panchkula police recently arrested gunman Malkhan Singh and also recovered the weapon used in the crime, the police is still on a lookout for Bajaj’s second gunman Mahender Singh.
