  • UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani may have discussed the Kashmir issue during their recent meeting on the sidelines of the NAM Summit in Egypt. "It (Kashmir) may have come up in passing, but that wasn't the focus of their discussion," UN spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters at the UN headquarters, in response to a question on this issue.

Asked about the Secretary-General's meeting in Egypt last week with Gilani, the spokesperson said they discussed India-Pakistan relations, the work of the Bhutto Commission and the Group of Friends of Democratic Pakistan. "There were a number of issues, including relations between India and Pakistan, including support for the work of the Group of Friends of a Democratic Pakistan, and also the work of the Bhutto Commission," Haq said. Ban and Gilani met at Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt last week.
