A team from the Bangalore Development Authority on Monday visited the Bus Rapid Transport System in Pune along Swargate and Hadapsar. BRTS route is being planned in Bangalore as part of the Ring Road proposal.

A team from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on Monday visited the Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) in Pune along Swargate and Hadapsar. BRTS route is being planned in Bangalore as part of the Ring Road proposal.

“We thought a visit to Pune’s BRTS would be a good exposure,” said BDA commissioner A Siddaiyah. The team was scheduled to visit Mumbai to finalise a statue of Lal Bahadur Shashtri, but extended the tour to Pune.

A Y Karche, joint managing director, PMPML said that the BRTS proposal for Bangalore had made use of the space at the terminals better than Pune.

“There, the bus station building will have four level parking area, where the ground floor is the station and the upper storeys will reserved for travellers who can park their vehicles. The upper floors will used for commercial purposes,” he said.

Karche added that these inputs will be taken into consideration in the next stage of planning for BRTS, Pune. Meanwhile, Siddaiyah said that the city needed to build skywalks for the convenience of pedestrians.

A court in Antwerp passed the order initiating the formal process of bringing Choksi back to India. But, he still has options to challenge the order passed by the lower court.
