Bangla cricket is moving in the right direction

I,like all Bangladeshis,am very excited about the World Cup.

I,like all Bangladeshis,am very excited about the World Cup. I follow Bangladesh cricket very closely. The event, which kickstarts with the most anticipated match in this part of the world India vs Bangladesh would be one of the biggest tests for the Tigers. Shakib-Al-Hasans side has tasted success recently and the level of expectation is higher than before.

This is the first time our nation has co-hosted a World Cup and that makes it even more special. Bangladesh has the capability of hosting world-class events and the 2011 World Cup will definitely strengthen that belief around the world. The successful hosting of the World Cup will also help change the image of the country.

I have a feeling that Bangladesh will do really well this time. There is immense passion for the game in our country and there is admiration for the players too. I am sure the players will give their best no matter what and will show a willingness to fight against the odds.

If they do this I am sure they will scale new heights.

I am not being jingoistic here. I am just going by the fact that the Tigers have pushed the envelope of late, which has given the fans a ray of hope that this side can go a long way in the tournament.

In a sense, history was created in October when Bangladesh completed a 4-0 whitewash against New Zealand. I would like to believe that this series victory will mark the beginning of a new era in Bangladesh cricket.

It seems like Bangladesh cricket is moving in the right direction.
