Bank manager held for molesting loan-seeker

Bandra Police arrested the manager of a private bank in Cuffe Parade Wednesday for allegedly molesting an employee of a company in Dubai who had approached him for a loan.

Police said the manager, Anand Mishram (56) of Malad (East), asked the Santacruz resident, who needed money for treatment of her ailing father, to meet him at a coffee shop at Bandstand in Bandra (West) after work hours Tuesday.

At the coffee shop, he allegedly told her if she wanted loan she would have to "cooperate with him".

The shocked woman rushed out. "The accused followed her. He forcibly entered an auto she had hired and allegedly molested her. The woman raised an alarm, after which locals caught, beat up and handed over the accused to Bandra Police," said API Mukund Yadav.

The woman had recently come to Mumbai to attend to her father, who has brain tumour and is under treatment at a Bandra hospital. She needed Rs 2 lakh to continue the treatment and discussed the matter with a friend.

"The friend introduced her to her boyfriend, who said one of his friends was a bank manager. He introduced her to Mishram," said another police officer.

Police have booked Mishram under IPC sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) and 509 (word, gesture and act intended to insult the modest of women).
