With the last day of withdrawal of nominations for the Assembly elections ending today, Panchkula will witness 14 candidates and Kalka 11 in the polls. While the form of an Independent candidate was incomplete, another Independent candidate Raj Kumar Aggarwal, a Congress dissident, withdrew his nomination today from Panchkula. Similarly in Kalka, two women Independent candidates withdrew their nominations today.
Panchkula SDM Rajpal Singh said, “With the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers today, one Independent candidate Raj Kumar withdrew. Now the constituency will have three Independents candidates.”
He added symbols were allotted to the candidates later in the day. “While electric pole is the symbol of Harinder Singh Saini, Ram Narayan was allotted railway engine and the symbol of Saroj Bala is candle,” added Singh.
Kalka SDM Yogesh Kumar said, “Two women Independent candidates withdrew their nominations today. While one was Ruby, wife of another Independent candidate Bhagat Singh, who is also a congress dissident, the other one was Rashpal Mehta, wife of Ram Gopal Mehta, Haryana Janhit Congress candidate. Now we have four Independent candidates.”
“While the symbol of Amit Kumar is sewing machine, Narender Nath has scissors, Bhagat Singh’s symbol is nagada and television is for Varinder Bhau,” added Kumar. Saroj Bala is the only woman candidate for the Assembly elections from Kalka and Panchkula constituency.
