  • It was battleground for the Indian diplomatic corps last Friday when China stood up in opposition to the exemption for India. Senior officials were summoned to South Block that evening itself as tough messages were sent to Beijing. The next day, despite being a Saturday, the entire MEA was asked to report to work and remain prepared to carry out any urgent diplomatic task. Feedback was flowing from desks and for once, it appeared there was a semblance of team work.
