With battlelines drawn for the PAU Non-teaching Employees Union elections, it is time for high-pitched campaigning.
Once again, the PAU Employees Forum led by DP Maur and PAU Employees’ United Front led by Harbans Singh Mundi will be filing their nominations tomorrow for the elections that are to be held on November 19.
With Mundi and his team currently in power, all eyes are on whether this group will come to power once again, or having tasted defeat after 12 years of reign, the group led by DP Maur will come back with a vengeance. For the team of president and general secretary remains the same that of Harbans Singh Mundi and Avinash Sharma. However with DP Maur not eligible to contest the elections (as he has less than two years in service before retirement), this team is keeping its cards close to the chest.
Listing out his achievements, Mundi says, “Our main achievement is putting the system of promotions in line which does not favour people from any one group. This line had been choked by Maur group for nearly 12 years now, who ensured that only people close to them were promoted and not the others. Apart from this, securing their due status for the left out category, revival of PAU press, easy availability of loans for out staff and securing a place for the PAU non teaching employees as special invitees in PAU board of management are some of our main achievements.”
Mundi admits, “There is a delay in getting the new pay scales implemented in PAU, but then the resolution of this problem also is not far off.”
