Be positive to development in UP: Maya tells Manmohan

Chief Minister Mayawati has appealed to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to adopt positive approach towards various development schemes for the state pending at the level of the Central government.

Chief Minister Mayawati has appealed to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to adopt positive approach towards various development schemes for the state pending at the level of the Central government.

The CM,in a press release,has welcomed the PM’s assurance on the development issue of Kanpur and requested him to revive the closed industrial units that were set up by the Centre in the past.

Reacting to the Singh’s reference to power problem in UP during his speech at a conference at Merchant Chambers of Uttar Pradesh in Kanpur on Saturday,the CM said the state has got the power problem in its legacy. She said her government has already issued a white paper in this regard on July 18,2009.

She said it was wrong to blame the state government for delay in approval of the two proposed power plants in the state. She also justified her demand for 90 per cent share of the power from the two proposed plants.

She said the state government is supposed to make arrangement for resources like land and water for the two power projects.

The CM said her government is making best efforts for the development of Kanpur Nagar with its limited resources.

Earlier in the day,Mayawati went to receive Manmohan Singh on his arrival to the industrial town on a day-long visit.

“She greeted Manmohan Singh on his arrival,offered him a bouquet and exchanged pleasantries,” said sources. However,Mayawati left immediately after receiving Singh.
