  • That Mayawati’s BSP has an edge over the Samajwadi Party in the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh is no secret, but the SP did feel embarrassed at being left behind even in the manifesto sweepstakes. Though the BSP never announces a manifesto, Mayawati got the better of her arch rival by issuing a manifesto-like “appeal” to her supporters last week. Meanwhile, the SP’s manifesto in-charge Mohan Singh is dragging his feet, occupied as he is with other concerns. Re-nominated from Deoria, he has been spending sleepless nights since SP rebel Baleshwar Yadav jumped into the fray on a Congress ticket against him.
