Ace English midfielder David Beckham has blown away all talk of international retirement by declaring that he wants to play until he turns 50. Former England skipper Beckham is expected to win his 109th cap in the friendly against Slovakia at Wembley, breaking Bobby Moores record for an outfield player. Id love to go to the World Cup and be involved in every squad that gets picked up to that time. I dont think Id ever retire. Beckham, chasing goalkeeper Peter Shiltons 125-cap record, has been rejuvenated since his loan move to AC Milan from US outfit LA Galaxy. 'The Sun quoted' him as saying even if England wins the World Cup next year; he would not call it a day. Even if Im not picked in a particular squad,I always want to be available while Im still playing, Beckham said. When it was put to Beckham that he could not play on until he was 50,he said: You never know. I dont want people wondering why Im still playing. But Id like that option to still be involved in a squad one day and,if that happens when Im 45,Id take it. Im passionate about playing for my country. Ive still got that work-rate there,Ive shown that with Milan and have played in every game so far, he added.
