Till around 6:45 pm,only one survivor, reportedly a foreigner, could be rescued from S-2. In other bogies, some of which were hanging in the air,the rescue work was slow. At 7 pm,the railway authorities claimed that there were only half-a-dozen survivors in S-1,S-2,pantry car and one general coach. Shahana (14),a resident of Bhogal in Delhi, was in S-2 when the incident occurred. Suddenly, the bogie moved wildly and there was a heavy jolt. Before I realised my mother,Shakeena (32),who was sitting with me,was dead. My father,Suleman, who works in a factory in Delhi, sustained fractures on his shoulder. His right arm was already paralysed. I was sitting near the emergency exit. I managed to open it and come out. My brother came out too. But after that I lost him in the melee, sobbed Shahana,as she frantically looked for her brother,Shahzad (13). Till late in the evening,Shahzaed could not be located.
