DY Patil defeated Club of Maharashtra on the basis of a higher first innings lead in the third edition of the Bhandarkar Lele Trophy organised by the PDCA at the DY Patil ground on Monday.
DY Patil won the toss and put the opposition in to bat. The decision turned out to be a good one as Club of Maharashtra were bundled out for just 82 runs in 22 overs.
Naushad Shaikh top-scored with 22 runs while Sandeep Pawar (four wickets) and Ravi Maurya (three wickets) bowled well for DY Patil.
In reply, DY Patil managed to score 154 runs for the loss of nine wickets before declaring with a lead of 72 runs. Soloman Chopade top-scored with 48 runs while Shyam Nandarge gave him good support with 26. Kuldeep Naidu of Club of Maharashtra picked up four crucial wickets.
In their second innings, Club of Maharashtra came back strongly and put up 280 runs before being bowled out. Devdatt Naidu top-scored with 71 runs while Rohit Ovhal got 43 runs. Saurabh Shingvi was DY Patil’s best bowler, picking up five wickets.
DY Patil managed 178 runs for the loss of seven wickets before the close of play.
Soloman Chopade scored a good half century and helped his team earn five crucial points.
