Making yet another grave allegation, senior IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt on Tuesday said the Gujarat government had misused the Secret Service Fund to subvert proceedings of a petition related to the 2002 riots filed before the Supreme Court.
Bhatt made the allegation before the Nanavati-Mehta Commission, which was hearing of one of his applications in which he has sought directions to the state government and the SC-appointed Special Investigation Team to provide him certain data related to the 2002 riots.
In different letters to the state police authorities,Bhatt demanded data such as the incoming and outgoing messages of the State Control Room and Secret Service Fund disbursement to the State Intelligence Bureau for the period between February 27,2002 and September 17,2002.
When the commission asked him why he sought details of the Secret Service Fund disbursement to the SIB,Bhatt said the money was misused to subvert the proceedings of the petition that was moved before the SC in the 2002 riots.
