Bhopal gas leak: SC to hear curative pleas today

A five-judge Bench of the Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice of India has decided to hear two curative petitions on the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy.

A five-judge Bench of the Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice of India has decided to hear two curative petitions on the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy — one for restoration of the stringent charge of culpable homicide filed by the CBI and the other for enhanced compensation to victims by the Centre — on February 28 in open court.

The Bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia took the decision during an in-chamber session on the petitions on Thursday.

The Bench also comprises Justices Altamas Kabir,R V Raveendran,B Sudershan Reddy and Aftab Alam.
