Big B Sings Ekla cholo

As the country celebrates the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore,Amitabh Bachchan falls in step. The Big B has lent his voice to one of Tagore’s most inspiring songs,Ekla cholo re,for Sujoy Ghosh’s film,Kahaani, starring Vidya Balan. “Singing Rabindrasangeet for the first time was the greatest revelation. The beauty of the language, the lyricism of the tune and its dhun are outstanding. Singing the track today, you discover how inadequate you are to handle something created by Gurudev Tagore,” wrote Bachchan on his blog. The film releases on July 29.

The song will be used in an “inspiration scene” for Balan’s character,as she struggles to look for her missing husband. “I was looking for someone who could speak fluent Bengali and sang well. Big B had both and I am grateful to him for accepting my request to sing,” said Ghosh, over phone from Mumbai, where he is busy in the final post-production stages of the film. The last time Ghosh and Bachchan worked together was in the 2009 debacle,Aladdin.
