Bihar Assembly ratifies 109th Amendment Bill

The Bihar Assembly unanimously ratified the 109th Amendment Bill of the Constitution,2009 aimed at extending the reservation for SC and ST by another ten years.

The Bihar Assembly today unanimously ratified the 109th Amendment Bill of the Constitution,2009 aimed at extending the reservation for SC and ST by another ten years.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar moved the resolution and said there was no doubt that the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes have made considerable progress in the last 60 years and as the Bill extending the reservation period was in the interest of SC/ST,the House should unanimously support the Bill.

Other states should also accept the Bill that was aimed at improving the conditions of the SCs and STS,he said.

He said the nomination of Anglo-Indians as member of the House would continue for another ten years.
