  • Bihar Congress leaders, including two state chiefs, have met the party high command demanding immediate replacement of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president Anil Kumar Sharma.

Top Congress leaders, including former BPCC presidents Sadanand Singh and Professor Ramjatan Sinha, Congress Legislature Party leader Ashok Kumar, party’s leader in Bihar Legislative Council Mahachandra Prasad Singh and MLA Awadhesh, met party’s senior leader and Sonia Gandhi aide Ahmed Patel in Delhi two days ago. They camped in Delhi for a week before returning to Patna on Monday. They met

several party leaders, including Pranab Mukherjee, during the visit.

The Bihar leaders sought Sharma’s ouster saying he had“failed to inspire party rank and file and strengthen the party”. These leaders, however, had no complaint against the functioning of Bihar in-charge Jagdish Tytler. Congress Legislature Party leader Ashok Kumar told The Indian Express: “With Nitish Kumar getting weaker because of bataidari and mahadalit politics, we need a leader that can galvanise the party at the grassroots.”
