Bihar DIG who put Modi in dock recalled as observer from the Dangs
Top Stories
A day after BJP lodged a complaint against the police observer who had said that Hindu fanatics were "instigating tribals" in the Dangs district and Chief Minister Narendra Modi was encouraging it, a new police observer was appointed for the district on Friday.
Amid rumours that Amitabh Kumar Das, a DIG of Bihar Police posted as police observer in the Dangs, had been recalled by the Election Commission, an Inspector General of Maharathra Police was on his way to join as the new police observer in the district.
"I don't know about the recall, but I was informed today that a new police observer is on the way. He will join us from Saturday," said Dangs Collector P K Solanki. Top officials of the Election Commission expressed ignorance about the development. Gujarat's Chief Election Officer Anital Karwal did not respond despite several phone calls and SMS for confirmation.
However, BJP's in-charge of Dangs district Dinesh Dasa, who had lodged a written complaint against Das a day before, claimed the latter had been recalled. Dasa had stated in his complaint to the Commission that Das's report was "misleading" and was a publicity stunt.
Incidentally, Modi will be holding rallies at Ahwa, headquarters of the Dangs district, and Vansda on Saturday. Das had made the damning observations in his report dated November 26.
