Acute Encephalitis Syndrome has claimed 238 lives in the last two months — of the 604 patients admitted with similar symptoms in different hospitals. But with the National Institute of Virology,Pune,ruling out Japanese Encephalitis as the cause,the Bihar government is puzzled over the line of treatment.

Health Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey has asked the Centre for assistance to tackle the disease that occurs with rising mercury and humidity,hitting children aged between 2 and 13 years.
