Pakistan's ruling PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has asked party workers and leaders to reach out to victims of terror attacks and the families of soldiers killed in operations against militants on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

"Eid this year should be celebrated by reaching out to the families of martyrs, the victims of national tragedies as well as the die-hard workers and those who suffered for the cause of democracy," Bilawal said in a message issued to the PPP.

The party's workers, federal ministers and parliamentarians should become part of this move, said Bilawal, who was made chief of the PPP shortly after his mother, former premier Benazir Bhutto, was assassinated in December 2007.

PPP workers in the restive North West Frontier Province have been asked to visit the families of security personnel who lost their lives in the fight against militants. They have also been advised to spend Eid in camps set up for people displaced by the military operations against the Taliban.

The PPP leadership in Karachi will pay visits to families of people who were killed in an attempt on Bhutto's life shortly after she returned to Pakistan in October 2007. Leaders in Balochistan were asked to visit nationalist strongholds and "assuage hurt feelings."
